Make the Most of Your Mini-Bands

As more of us are working out at home or joining in the fun of outdoor fitness classes, using resistance bands has become increasingly popular. Not to mention, they’re lightweight and super easy to travel with, meaning you can get in a workout with your muscle-sculpting mini-bands from just about anywhere.

There are so many reasons to add resistance bands to your workouts. For one, adding bands to your sweat sesh is a simple way to increase your output during a workout, plus incorporating bands can pack a serious punch to your strength training routine. Besides the physical benefits, bands are also great if you’re looking for another way to challenge yourself or if your workouts are starting to feel a little too mundane for your liking.

Bands are also a great substitute for dumbbells or hand weights if you’re unable to get your hands on them due to a supply shortage, or just don’t want the extra equipment hanging out in your living room (who can blame you?!).

Here’s how to add resistance bands to your workout:

• Add Bands to Your Hand Weight Workouts: Adding bands in addition to your weights is an effective way to challenge your muscles when the weights by themselves are no longer enough. 

• Make Exercise Using Body Weight More Challenging: Try including a resistance band in your regular standing or floor exercise. Examples include side-lying hip abductions, plié squats or glute bridges.

• Try Out Band-Specific Workouts: If you’re looking to go full-force with your resistance bands, try out lateral walks, seated rowing or standing twists.

Now that we’re all in love with the idea of adding resistance bands to our workouts, let’s review HOW these power-packed mini-bands will seriously level up your sweat sesh. Here are five benefits of resistance bands to maximize your workout:

1. They Improve the Quality of Your Exercise: Unlike traditional weight training, your muscles will be under constant tension, which actually leads to your muscles working even harder.

2. They Engage Your Stabilizing Muscles: Because you are controlling both the tension and release while using resistance bands, you have to work doubly hard to maintain your form, which engages your stabilizing muscles and builds core strength.

3. They Provide a Full Body Workout: With resistance bands workouts, you’re using multiple muscles at the same time, making it a great full body workout.

4. They Promote Better Form: Having to maintain the constant tension on the bands throughout your workout means that each rep will be high quality, and your muscles will be working hard the entire time, meaning you won’t be able to slack on your form!

5. They’re Easy on the Joints: While using resistance bands, you have full control over the angle you train at, which means you can avoid training at any position that may be uncomfortable for you and lead to unnecessary strain on your joints.

We started using our bands on Sunday in Grand Island Nebraska! We used them on our legs then yesterday we used them with our arms! You definitely feel the burn in your arms (: I am excited to continue using them in class! I highly recommend to get your bands and join us at a location close to you! (;
