Benefits of Taking a Cardio Sculpt Class

cardio sculpt class at Jazzercise

Our signature Cardio Sculpt classes combine dance-based cardio, strength training, and stretching movements for the ultimate total-body workout. You’re not gonna believe just how fun working out can be!

Jazzercise FitPro Toni Pitruzzello explains that "both cardio and strength training are SO important for our overall health and longevity. What's PERFECT about Jazzercise, and particularly our Cardio Sculpt format, is that it combines these two types of exercise. The combination significantly lowers our risk of disease compared to cardio alone."

There are so many benefits to explore when it comes to a Cardio Sculpt class. And if you’re still asking the question, “What is cardio sculpt?” we’ve got you covered. Let’s cover the basics and like what to expect and how to prepare.  We’ll also cover the latest Jazzercise special offers and promotions

Now, get ready to burn calories, blast fat, and build muscle — all while having the time of your life! Let’s cover the basics, and what to expect and how to prepare.

What is Cardio Sculpt?

Cardio Sculpt is a fun, high-energy, dance-based cardio workout followed by strength training and stretching exercises. Attending a Cardio Sculpt class will quickly put your heart, lungs, and muscles to the test while burning hundreds of calories in a fast-paced group fitness environment.

If you prefer to skip the dance cardio portion and get right to strength training, give our focused Sculpt class a try. Like our body-sculpting Sculpt classes, the strength training segment of our Cardio Sculpt classes aim to build lean muscle (and total body wellness!) with toning exercises like plies (or squats), push-ups, and planks.

Worried you might get bored? We like to shake things up by changing the music (and choreography) several times a year. We also offer a range of other class formats, including Cardio, Power Sculpt, and Stretch.

How to Benefit from Cardio Sculpt and Dance

If you’re ready to crush your fitness goals, Cardio Sculpt dance workout classes will help get you there! In an hour-long sweat sesh, you will raise your heart rate, burn hundreds of calories, strengthen your muscles, and increase bone density.

In other words, these classes pack a serious punch.  Just imagine the total body health perks when you keep coming back for more! Talk about total transformation.

Other health benefits include better endurance, balance, flexibility, and range of motion — but it doesn’t stop there. Dance cardio workouts also release tons of endorphins, those oh-so-happy hormones that boost mood, relieve stress, and improve overall well-being. These classes are truly feel-good machines that we’re sure you’ll come to love and crave.

Plus, you’ll also make new friends, enjoy hit music, and have an absolute BLAST at Cardio Sculpt. (And did we mention that no dance experience is required?) Our safe, positive class environment is perfect for just about everyone.

The Basic Moves of Cardio Sculpt

While every member of our FitPro team adds their own unique flair to class, the basic Cardio Sculpt moves are the same. You may recognize specific movements from other activities like ballet, kickboxing, pilates, and yoga.

After a brief warm-up period, you will be guided through three main sections of class: dance cardio, strength training, and stretching.

Dance cardio includes heart-raising, calorie-blasting, and high-impact moves — so be ready to hop, skip, and jump! If high-impact movements aren’t right for you, we offer low-impact modifications and even separate low-impact Cardio Sculpt classes. These high-energy options involve muscle-focused alternatives to protect your joints and maximize results.

Next, get ready to pump it with a series of body-rocking strength training exercises. You will use a variety of equipment like hand weights, resistance bands, and body weight to build muscle, strengthen bones, and get fit. Our sculpting moves include bicep curls, tricep extensions, squats, lunges, planks, and crunches.

Lastly, join your classmates to stretch out the burn. Stretching helps prevent injury and aids muscle recovery, leaving you ready to work it again next time! After cooling down with your sweat squad, you’ll be counting the minutes until your next class — trust us!

Although no dance experience is needed for Cardio Sculpt, we do use common dance terms like “plie” and “arabesque.” While it won’t take long to understand our class lingo, it may be helpful to check out the basics on YouTube.

How to Prepare for a Cardio Sculpt Workout

If you’re the type of person who likes to know what to expect (and really, who isn’t?!), we’ve got you covered. Here’s how to prepare for your first Cardio Sculpt group fitness class:

  • • Research it online: Before heading to the studio, check out videos and photos of Cardio Sculpt classes on Instagram. We promise you don't need to know the moves, but a better idea of basic dance cardio moves helps you confidently shake it on your first day!
  • • Dress appropriately: Wear comfortable, flexible clothing that you don't mind getting sweaty. Cross trainers are great, but any type will do. If you’re looking for a new workout fit, check out the latest buttery-soft leggings, performance tops, and limited edition pieces at Jazzercise apparel!
  • • Arrive early: Try getting to class 10-15 minutes early to introduce yourself to your instructor. Our entire FitPro team is really welcoming, we promise! We like to keep an extra eye on new participants to offer personalized workout tips.
  • • Don’t overdo it: At Jazzercise, you don’t need to compete with ANYONE. Go ahead and move at your own speed! The last thing anyone wants is for you to get injured during class.
  • • Embrace the learning process: If you feel worried about your two left feet or the ability to follow along, take a deep breath and relax. At Jazzercise, we like to say there’s no such thing as mistakes — only accidental solos!
  • • Check-in afterward: Take a few minutes after Cardio Sculpt to talk to your instructor. Be sure to share what went well (and what didn’t!) so your next class can be even better!

For added support (and an extra boost of confidence!), you can always try Cardio Sculpt from the comfort of home. Sign up for a free 2-week trial of Jazzercise On Demand today! When you feel ready for in-studio classes, don’t miss our latest introductory fitness deal.
