Judi Sheppard Missett Delivers Uplifting Morning Keynote Address At Sharp Women’s Health Symposium

Jazzercise Founder & CEO Also Led Jazzercise Workout at May 13 Event at San Diego Convention Center

CARLSBAD, CA (May 17, 2006) — Judi Sheppard Missett, fitness pioneer and founder/CEO of Jazzercise, delivered a powerful and uplifting morning keynote address to kick-off the 16th annual Sharp Women’s Health Symposium that was held May 13 at the San Diego Convention Center.  Missett, who turned her love of jazz dance into a worldwide dance exercise phenomenon, also led an interactive workout session later that morning.

“It was an honor to be part of such an important event for women,” said Missett, whose company philosophy touts a commitment to helping people understand and value the importance of health and fitness.  “Sharp did a fabulous job organizing this special day.”

A fitness advocate, Missett founded Jazzercise in 1969.  The workout program offers a fusion of jazz dance, resistance training, Pilates, yoga and kickboxing movements that has positively affected millions of people worldwide.  Additionally, she choreographs new routines every 10 weeks for franchised instructors and continues to teach Jazzercise classes.  Missett has grown Jazzercise into an international franchise empire that today, hosts a network of 6,300 instructors in more than 30 countries.

This year’s symposium, themed A Woman’s Life Touches Everyone, was designed to improve the health and wellness of women by providing practical information in an entertaining environment.   The event featured more than 2,000 attendees, 50 physicians and health experts, 30 breakout sessions on a variety of health topics, and more than 140 exhibitors.  Additional highlights of the symposium included keynote lunch speaker Ricardo Chavira (portrays Carlos Solis on ABC’s “Desperate Housewives”); and event emcee and closing speaker, 10News anchor Carol LeBeau.
